My Cigarette, My Lover

My Cigarette, My Lover
by: Ann-Marie Latoski
The first lover I ever had was a cigarette. My smokes were the most faithful of companions. They were always there for me. They never complained, never talked back and made me feel so good in the moment I needed them.
The cigarettes and I would often sneak off together. They were ever willing and ready to go. I planned my days around being with them. They took coffee breaks and lunch with me. We watched TV together and visited with my friends. They rode with me in the car and made an evening out oh so much better.
We shared everything together, my cigarettes and I. They were there when I was angry or scared. They were there when I celebrated too. My smokes waited at the bus stop with me, filled in pauses and all sorts of gaps in time. The one thing with whom I shared all.
I revelled in their company, their steadfastness, their constancy. They gave my days purpose. My cigarettes shrouded me in mystery and I was not alone. There were others who understood what my cigarettes meant to me. They knew who I was, what I had. My identity, my escape.
How To Avoid Swelling When Pregnant
February 28, 2009
Edema, otherwise known as swelling, will affect almost all women at some point during their pregnancy. Swelling or Edema is most often the result of excessive levels of hormones coursing through your body.
Really, the best thing you can do to combat swelling is to drink far more fluid. It may seem counter intuitive, but the more juice and water you drink the less water your body will hold onto and the less puffy you will be. You should be working to drink at least 10 eight ounce glasses of water per day. Also try to avoid diuretic beverages such as tea and coffee, which contain caffeine. These are more likely to dehydrate you than invigorate you during your pregnancy.
You might also consider wearing some support stockings during your pregnancy. These will not only help combat swelling, but may help prevent or minimize the effects of varicose veins later in pregnancy. Most medical care suppliers carry support hosiery that works well for women during pregnancy.
You should look for support hose with a medium grading minimum, meaning they provide firm support. Compression hose can often be purchased online. You can also ask your healthcare provider where you might purchase a pair or two.

Is your relationship with your significant other, mother, father, or friend making you sick? Believe it or not, there’s scientific evidence to suggest that our relationships can actually contribute to illness. Therefore, in order to achieve a healthy life, it is important to make our relationships healthy.
There have been studies to suggest that people who are married often tend to live longer. Experts reason that marriage provides a nurturing environment for individuals, enabling them to better fight off disease. The support of a loving spouse can make all the difference in the world, especially when one is facing a serious illness.
Maintaining healthy relationships can help to lower our stress. Stress is considered to be an important contributing factor for illness. By improving our relationships with other people—particularly with family members—we can cut down on the stress which can sap our strength, making it difficult for us to ward off infections.

Glycemic Index of Foods
February 25, 2009
All carbohydrates are not the same. Generally it is assumed that simple carbohydrates are not good for health as they increase blood glucose levels rapidly, and complex carbohydrates are good because they have a slower effect on glucose levels. But this is not always true. Recent work into the Glycemic Index (GI) has changed the understanding of the relationship between ingested carbohydrates and blood glucose levels.
The glycemic index is a measure of how fast a carbohydrate triggers to raise the blood sugar. The higher the number, the greater the blood sugar response. On this basis, all carbohydrates can be assigned a value, known as glycemic index, compared to glucose. The glucose is the fastest releasing carbohydrate so it has been assigned a glycemic value of 100. A high glycemic index value for a food indicates that it results in a rapid rise in blood glucose levels and hence a spike in insulin response. Conversely, a low GI value indicates a slow rise in blood glucose and insulin levels.

Can Antidepressants Ever Cure You?
by: Christopher Green
They’re the plagues of the modern world. Stress, depression and anxiety are on the increase every year and they show no signs of ending their relentless onslaught. Over 40 million people are affected by these illnesses annually, and for the majority, powerful antidepressant drugs offer the only solution.
What’s curious is that over seventy percent of people who stop taking them, for any length of time, will relapse into another stressful or depressive episode
Something’s rotten in Denmark. Because if these drugs are as effective as their manufacturers claim, then sufferers should be cured of their illness. Clearly, this isn’t happening.
If these drugs are so good, why don’t they cure sufferers?
The commonly held belief, both by the medical profession and sufferers is that anti-depressant drugs are the most effective treatment.
This isn’t quite true.
Antidepressant drugs DO help a sufferer. But only TEMPORARILY. They cannot offer a permanent cure because anti-depressants treat ONE of the SYMPTOMS of these illnesses - reduced levels of “happy chemicals” called neurotransmitters.

Treating Cystic Acne
by: Don Amodeo
Normal zits are already unpleasant enough, but cystic acne is a much more painful and potentially scarring experience for your skin (and your self esteem!). There is no “easy” remedy for getting rid of acne cysts, but there are certainly some treatment options that can help speed the process, as well as some things that you should be sure NOT to do. This advice is meant for acne sufferers with a mild to average number of cysts. If you have severe cystic acne that covers your face and body, you should really seek the advice of a dermatologist immediately, as an affliction such as this can leave your skin scarred for life.
Understanding cystic acne:
Unlike the small whitehead pustules that most people with acne experience on the surface of their skin, cystic acne appears as large irritated bumps, often with the pustule hidden deep beneath the skin’s surface. These cysts are caused when hormonal shifts result in your skin glands overproducing oil (sebum) at an unnatural rate. The gland becomes swollen and eventually bursts, but not before the sebum has swelled and hardened into a clump too large to escape by means of your pores. The irritation from your gland bursting results in inflammation, and buried pustule can remain in your skin for a very long time.

By the way, you already knew that. I need to tell you something about improving your diet overall? but first you must know something about diet pills:
What’s Wrong With Diet Pills?
Appetite suppressants such as Phentermine 37.5 are only a temporary solution. At Shoppe.MD online pharmacy, we do not promote continual and unnecessary refills of prescription diet pills. Our site and free newsletter provide useful diet, weight loss, and exercise tips in an effort to help both customers and visitors achieve their weight loss goals and improve their health.
How Can I Stop Craving Unhealthy Foods?
Because prescription Phentermine from cannot provide a permanent solution to being overweight, I recommend that you muster up all the will power you have ? and then some! ? and use 10 minutes of your free time to go outside and walk.
