Introduction to Low Carb Dieting
by: Paul Costelo
To help with weight issues and for overall improved health, many people turn to diets. In fact, government statistics show that while about 65 percent of Americans are overweight, 38 percent are actually doing something about it. That leaves 27% who aren’t !
And according to a recent survey by the National Health Institute, about a third of overweight Americans who are trying to lose weight, are doing so by eating less carbohydrates (carbs) largely because of the huge popularity of fad diets like Atkins Diet and the South Beach Diet.
Although there have certainly been other low-carb or low-sugar diet plans before, and more will come out in the years ahead, let’s take a look at the basics behind many of the major plans.
And let’s take a look at how they fit into the real world today. Because while it might be great to lower the body’s sugar content and be healthier wouldn’t it be great to learn how to do that quickly ??

Green Tea Has The Right Amount Of Caffeine With No Side Effects
by: Rose Antonio
Green tea caffeine does not make you jittery or nervous. If you’re looking for a coffee or soda substitute with just the right amount of caffeine enough to keep you awake and energized without the nervousness, chronic muscle tension, irritability, headaches, depression, and insomnia, Japanese Green Tea is exactly what you’ve been looking for.
Japanese Green Tea offers the best of both worlds when it comes to caffeine — just enough to provide a stimulating pick-me-up that banishes unwanted drowsiness, but not enough to trigger nervousness or sleepless nights.
Ever since eight-century Buddhist monks discovered that tea helped them remain awake during long meditation sessions, tea has been used to boost lagging energy, refresh the mind, and brighten up the mood.
Caffeine increases your heartbeat, improves your alertness, your reaction time gets faster and your general mood becomes more “upbeat”.
But to get the benefits of caffeine, you only need to consume the recommended caffeine intake.
The recommended caffeine intake per day is 200 mg.
Do You Know Your Bodys ph And Its Relation To Your Health
November 29, 2008
Do you know your ph? By getting ph strips at a pharmacy, pool store or lab you can test your urine in the moring and see it’s range. A good range is between 6.5 and 7.2. Most of are too acidic. When we are too acidic, the body takes minerals from important organs and our bones to neutralize the acid.
These minerals can include calcium, sodium, potassium and magenesium. Though we may not notice it, an overly acidic situation can develop in time into various symptoms and problems.
In the Book Alkalize or Die , Dr. Theodore A. Baroody says ,”The countless names of illnesses do not really matter. What does matter is that they all come from the same root cause…too much tissue acid waste in the body!”- Theodore A. Baroody, N.D., D.C., Ph.D.
Some problems thatcan indicate acidosis include: bladder and kidney conditions, immune deficiency, diabetes, weak brittle bones and lactic acid build up. PH is behind the bodies electrical system, intracellular activity and the way our bodies utilize enzymes, and minerals, and vitamins. That is why pH is one of the first things to be looked at if you are experiencing an imbalance in your body. Decades ago Dr. Otto Warburg, the only physician to ever win two Nobel prizes, proved that cancer can not exist in an alkaline/high pH environment.

Easy Weight Loss - Make A Start Right Now!
by: Marie K Gordon
Oh dear, oh dear, it’s that time of year but yet again! The holidays are over, Christmas has come and gone, and what is there to look forward to! Summer holidays I suppose, but they do seem such a long time away.
Anyway, I must confess that at the moment, even the thought of a holiday horrifies me, because after my over-indulgence during the festive season, the last thing that I want to be doing is even more eating and drinking.
So, if there is nothing to look forward to for now, and we are in the midst of the January depression, what on earth CAN we do to lift ouselves out of the blues at this time of year!
Here’s one thought for you, start right now and get fit. I suggest that not only will that make you feel heaps better, after a few weeks, you will even start to look forward to that summer vacation. Let me give you another more serious and compelling reason for this, and that is that we all shoud start to take our long term health much more seriously than we do at present.
Family Fitness

Family Fitness
by: Terje Brooks Ellingsen
Family fitness is fun! So, how do you get your family off the sofa and encourage them to get moving with you? It can be a simple task if you find an exercise program that the entire family can enjoy!
We all know that too many Americans are overweight and even more that don’t follow a regular exercise program. It is up to mom and dad to initiate some movement within their own household. There’s an old saying that the “family that plays together, stays together.” This is the approach you should take to get your family moving! It’s not exercise, it’s time to play!
First, you should pay close attention to what everyone in the family likes to do. For example, if both you and your spouse are tennis fanatics, tennis should definitely be on the exercise agenda. If your son is an avid golfer, you need to learn to swing! If your daughter is a devoted jogger, guess who needs to jog too? Find out what everyone in the family likes to do (and you probably already know) and then do it as a family!
How To Avoid Complications With LASIK Surgery

How To Avoid Complications With LASIK Surgery
by: Nicola Kennedy
As with any surgery, LASIK has a few complications. Scientific studies conducted in the late 1990s depicted that a meager 5% of LASIK eye surgeries resulted in some sort of complication. However, expert eye surgeons claim that the complication rate drops well below 1% if the patient is thoroughly examined prior to the surgery, so as to ensure that the procedure is feasible and beneficial.
Though quite rare, complications due to LASIK do occur. The following are some of the frequently reported complications of LASIK eye surgery.
- Dry eye syndrome
- Light sensitivity
- Halos or glare around light sources at night
- Over/under-correction
- Ghosts/double vision
- Induced astigmatism
LASIK eye surgery involves the cutting of a flap in the cornea, which is lifted for laser re-shaping of the eye. The flap is then replaced to form a type of natural bandage. Complications may arise if the flap is not cut correctly, which may result in an uneven eye surface and a vision defect called irregular astigmatism.

How Ionic Calcium Influences the Function Of Our Body
by: George Meinig
The subject which occupied most of Dr. Price’s research time was the multiple roles calcium plays in the functions of the body. These Studies virtually forced themselves upon him as medical and dental literature contained little information about calcium and its important functions.
A list of calcium functions follows:
Every cell is dependent on the presence of Ionic calcium. It isused in teeth and bones and the movement of muscles. It is required for the rhythmic action of the heart and the intestines. It is essential for the clotting of blood. It plays a role in infections, pregnancy, and in the maintenance of the acid-alkaline balance. Its presence or absence is a factor in the formation of tooth decay, phorrhea, and the degenerative disease.
The great contributions made by Melvin Page,D.D.S., which have advanced some of the Price findings were discussed; for instance, how routine calcium and phosphorous blood test readings can be used to balance body chemistry. In as much as this is not Price research, I suggest readings go over the chapter again to learn the significance of Dr.Page’s contributions to our knowledge of calcium metabolism.

Emagrece Sim Weight Loss Diet Pills: FDA WARNING
by: Steve Joseph
Amidst confusion and controversy over the safety and efficacy of Emagrece Sim, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has finally released a formal warning to consumers. The warning states that the use of Emagrece Sim and Herbathin Dietary Supplements may be harmful. In fact Emagrece Sim, also known as the Brazilian Diet Pill contains a cocktail of dangerous ingredients, some of which are controlled substances and found in prescription drugs. The side effects of the use of Emagrece Sim may be serious and the FDA is advising that use could result in injury.
The drug is made by Brazilian pharmaceutical companys Fitoterapicos and also Phytotherm Sim. http://www.1drugrehabcentre.com reports that all efforts are currently being made to stop further shipments of Emagrece Sim from entering the United States although the task may prove difficult. The current demand for weight loss drugs is almost insatiable in the majority of the country however the FDA hopes that by alerting their field staff, they may be able to contain much of the traffic.
Alcohol And Pregnancy
November 24, 2008
If you have been drinking up until the point when you become pregnant or smoking it is also vital that you stop doing so immediately. Many women worry that they consumed a few alcoholic drinks prior to learning they were pregnant. If you are concerned you should talk with your healthcare provider. Chances are that everything will be just fine as long as you stop immediately. At this time there are no recommended safe limits of alcohol to consume during pregnancy, thus it is best that you avoid alcohol all together.
Smoking is equally as harmful for a mother during pregnancy. Smoking can also affect your unborn fetus, potentially contributing to birth defects or respiratory problems later in life. Did you know that when you smoke your baby is receiving less oxygen than they normally would? This can cause your baby to grow less rapidly than they might normally, and may also contribute to preterm labor, which can be potentially life threatening for your infant.
Food Selection for Gastric Bypass Patients
November 23, 2008
Dieters who dejectedly complain they are figuratively "stuck" with their excess fat may be surprised to learn there is a scientifically-accurate truth to their statement. Fat cells — which are created when the body is unable to convert excess calories to energy — are permanent. Fat cells cannot be removed by any diet known to humanity [1]. They can, however, be reduced in size. This is the experience enjoyed by people who lose weight [i].
There is, however, an increasingly popular ? and controversial ? method to eliminate fat cells permanently via an external, non-diet method. Scientifically referred to as a Gastric Bypass Operation, but more popularly known as "stomach stapling", this procedure literally staples part of the stomach together. The result is that food intake becomes severely restricted, and the body begins the process of malabsorption, or a decreased ability to absorb nutrients. In addition, the duodenum [2] is bypassed to prevent the absorption of nutrients that could cause excess calories, and as such, the creation of additional fat cells [ii].
