Sciatica & Back Pain - 7 Simple Things You Can Do To Stop It
by: Chris Galloway
The Good News
The good news is that by doing the right back exercises in the right way, you have a great chance of stopping your sciatica and back pain and keeping your back healthy and strong.
Even if your back already hurts, or is strained, there is a good chance that you can make it better.
(Note: If you’re sick, or your back really hurts and you think you’ve injured yourself, make sure you see a health practitioner first.)
The Not-So-Good News
If you don’t exercise reasonably regularly, especially as you age, the muscles supporting and surrounding your back will eventually get weak and stiff.
Then these muscles won’t be able to work well enough when you most need them to - when you put a strain on your back.
This means it’s much more likely that your will injure your back when you do place a strain - even a small strain - on it.

THE RISK
No doubt you’ve heard of the increasingly popular "raw food" and "whole food" diets. Why are people so interested in eating raw food or whole food? One reason is that eating these types of food reduces the risk of acid accumulation in your body.
Raw and whole foods are usually digested more efficiently than cooked and refined foods. When we cook foods, we destroy the natural enzymes that are part of the food in its raw form. These enzymes were intended by nature to help us digest the food. When we consume food without these natural enzymes, our bodies either digest the food improperly or allow an excessive amount of nutrients to be absorbed into the bloodstream.
In both instances, the result is obesity. When too many nutrients are absorbed at once, the body converts the excess glucose into fat. Improperly digested food moves slowly through the digestive tract, where it becomes increasingly acidic. To protect its vital organs from this acidic waste, the body converts the acid into fat and stores it safely away from the organs.
Teeth Whitening, The Plain Truth

Teeth Whitening, The Plain Truth
by: Jonathan Leger
Virtually everyone wanting to brighten their smile can benefit from teeth whitening. Patients with teeth that are discolored due to age, smoking or other extrinsic staining factors are excellent candidates for teeth whitening. Research indicates that teeth whitening is completely effective in more than 78% of people. As teeth whitening continues to grow in popularity, research continues into all types of whitening systems.
Teeth whitening is not permanent, and works by removing the organic materials in the enamel by dissolving them with a peroxide derivative. Also, teeth whitening is only effective if there is a lot of enamel.
There are two principle forms of teeth whitening: professional whitening and teeth whitening kits.
Professional Teeth Whitening
The most effective and safest method of teeth whitening is the dentist-supervised procedure. First, the dentist will determine whether you are a candidate for teeth whitening and what type of whitening system would provide the best results. The dentist should also go over what you personally can expect for your individual situation. Before the teeth whitening treatment, most dentists clean the teeth, fill any cavities, and make sure the patient’s gums are healthy.

What Causes People To Develop A Speech Impediment

What Causes People To Develop A Speech Impediment
by: Steve Hill
I am one of many people who are unfortunate enough to develop a speech impediment in childhood. This article describes why these impediments may occur and how I went about achieving fluency. For the purpose of this article, I concentrate on the speech impediment known as stuttering.
There are many reasons why people may develop a stutter, it can be as a result of bullying from school, an over aggressive member of the family, a shock reaction to an event such as a car crash, or it could be passed down from another member of the family who has a stutter.
I have met many people who stutter as I now help people to achieve fluency as a career. I always ask them to talk about how and why their stutter started. The reasons above are the type of answers I receive.
Stuttering normally originates in childhood and nine out of ten people who stutter are men. Around 1% of the population has a stutter according to recent reports.
Not Enough Time to Exercise

Not Enough Time to Exercise
by: Linda Geyer
Lack of time is the most common excuse for avoiding exercise. As a personal fitness trainer, I hear it all the time, I’d love to workout but I don’t have time. My goal is to help you find the time or more importantly, make the time to exercise. There are too many benefits for your health and well being to make excuses not to exercise. The older you are, the more important exercise is to your overall well-being and health. Strength training has been proven to reduce the risk of falls, increases bone density, reduces the symptoms for arthritis, heart disease, osteoporosis, diabetes, obesity and back pain. Studies have show exercise to have a profound effect on a person’s mental and emotional health. With all the benefits of exercise and if your health is a priority, you could find the time to exercise.
If you have time to watch television, you have time to exercise. These two activities can easily be combined. A television placed in front of your exercise bike or treadmill will help accomplish your cardio needs and make the time go by faster.
Acid and Digestive Disorders: Breaking the Vicious Circle
October 17, 2007
THE RISK
The primary symptom of acid reflux is obvious to those who have it. During the digestive process, acid flows up into the throat and causes a burning sensation. This is caused by a breakdown in the valve that separates the stomach from the esophagus. It’s an indication that the acid-alkaline balance in the digestive tract has been disrupted. Unless that balance is restored, any attempt to treat or correct the acid reflux problem will provide nothing more than short-term relief.
The accumulation of acid in the digestive tract is often the result of eating the wrong types of food. Acid is not caused only by excessive consumption of junk food. Anything processed or overloaded with additives can upset the acid-alkaline balance in the digestive system. Even foods that you think are healthy can be highly acidic.
In a digestive tract that’s already out of balance, something as simple as cooking your food can lead to further problems. Cooking destroys natural enzymes in the food that assist with digestion. When your digestive system is unable to produce the necessary enzymes for digestion, the loss of natural enzymes makes the problem worse.
Exploring the Mental Aspect of Fitness

Exploring the Mental Aspect of Fitness
by: John Perry
I promote and teach the 3 phases of fitness to all my clients. Many are unaware of what the three phases entail. If you fall into this same categorylet me take this opportunity to enlighten you.
The 3 phases are the Mental, Physical and Financial aspects or phases of fitness. This is a concept I developed a little over two years ago and have had great success with improving client’s mindsets. Let’s look at how each of these relate to your health and fitness.
Mental fitness: Everyone has a fitness script or mindset concerning fitness. This is what is instilled in each of us at an early age. It is how our parents, teachers, loved ones, and society as a whole views health and fitness. Just like most beliefs we posses they were learned.
I like to call it a fitness script.
Most scripts have been formed from the experiences in one’s life. This script is what is keeping people overweight, unhappy and full of excuses.
Speaking of excuses, in order to fulfill the I am not worthy prophesy, clients will sabotage their potential success with reasons why exercise will never work.

Dealing With The Emotional Scars Of Acne
by: Peter Vine
Acne is widely accepted, as no longer, being a physical problem. There can be deep emotional issues that arise from acne irrespective of the severity of the condition. Over the last 5 years or so, doctors have started to look at some of the more serious psychological effects of acne. Some of the most problematic psychological effects of acne include:
1. A feeling of lowered self-esteem
2. A reduction in self-confidence
3. Social withdrawal
4. Feelings of depression
5. Feelings of anger and aggression
6. Feelings of despair.
It is becoming increasing common for one of these feelings leading to another, and another and so on, each new issue re-enforcing the previous in a vicious feedback loop, concluding in feelings of helplessness. Interestingly the degree of impact is rarely proportional to the extent to which acne is present. Sometimes a small number of spots can cause lasting emotional stress, in some individuals, where as others may not be affected at all.

10 Tips To Maximize Your Metabolism
by: Paul Cris
Metabolism basically means the count of calories you burn per day. Repeatedly you have might read from the articles about accelerating the rate of metabolism. The most common reasons are consuming highly nutritious food and performing workouts. If your metabolism rate is slower, it shows you are burning less of calories. In order to increase the rate, you must follow the below tips:
1) Do not observe fasting because you burn too many calories at once, which is really harmful to your body. In this process your muscles turn weak and you face dehydration rather than minimizing the fat content.
2) Dine about 6-8 times a day by consuming nutritious items such as fruits and vegetables.
3) A heavy breakfast is a key factor in increasing the rate of metabolism. Since you are awake for the whole day, the rate of metabolism is fast.
4) There are many kinds of healthy fats available such as nuts, fish, olive oil, and flax oil. They can be the substitutes for processed carbs.
5) Consume less of sugar so that the insulin production is regulated and you will thus burn calories easily.
